West Yorkshire Schools
CT Glass have been working in close partnership with a specialist local contractor to upgrade the safety glazing at three recently completed PFI schools in West Yorkshire by installing fire rated windows.
CT Glass were approached to supply Fireswiss Foam, a fully tested and Certifire approved 30 minute integrity and 30 minute insulation (30/30) fire glass to replace the existing glazing installed in three new schools. This type of fire protection is required to comply with Building Regulations for Schools in England and Wales. The project comprised in excess of 100m2 of Fireswiss Foam, which was installed in windows in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, including a number of circular windows which required specialist waterjet cutting.
Why CT Glass?
The project had a strict deadline, as the upgrade to meet the safety standards needed to be completed during the school six week summer break. CT Glass we able to manufacture and deliver within this tight timeframe in order that the glass could be installed on time. CT Glass were also able to provide the technical backup required to ensure that the fire rated glass was installed correctly, which was of key importance to the partner company on this project.
Correctly installed fire glazing not only means that safety standards are met, but that the local community benefits from safer schools and public buildings. Following the successful completion of the job, CT Glass hope to work in partnership with the contractor on further safety specific projects in the near future.
